Creating Identities

You can create multiple mail accounts in Outlook Express, but the Inbox and Address Book will be shared. This works best for one person who has several mail accounts or personalities.

If two or more people are sharing a computer, it may be desirable for each to have a separate Inbox, Address Book, Folder list, Preferences, etc. This is accomplished by creating a separate "Identity" for each person. If desired, each Identity can be protected with a password.

Instructions for creating a new Identity:

1. Open Outlook Express. From the File menu, click on "Identities", and from the menu that pops up, click on "Add New Identity".



2. Type a name for this Identity. Optionally, specify a password which must be entered before switching to this Identity.



3. Click "Next" below to proceed with setting up an email account for this Identity.
